At no point is He Trying to enter a different culture, It was court ordered that he attend therapy and work with the mathematician . He was defiant to the change the entire movie.In the movie ';good will hunting'; what is the culture he is trying to enter?
I suppose Will does sort of lurk on the periphery of the ultra-elite academic ';culture';. Whether or not his truly trying to infiltrate the MIT community is left for us to interpret. Is he just a janitor? Or is working intentionally at ';one of the most prestigious technical colleges in the world'; to be around individuals whose minds work on levels which might challenge him?


How the beliefs, values and norms of orphans from South Boston differ from those of privileged MIT students is a long complex answer...but obviously, they are different!!
