What is your opinion on hunting?

I would like to know everyone's opinion on hunting for sport. What is your opinion on hunting?
I usually avoid these questions because the asker is usually set in their beliefs. However I will try to explain best I can.

The major cause in reduction of waterfowl is not hunters its development and pollution. In the 1960s there was far more wetland areas than today. Roads, housing developments, airports, malls have removed hundreds of thousands of acres of wetland ducks need and much of what’s left is polluted. California prides itself in being eco minded and chock full of animal rights people it also the worst state for loss and pollution of wetlands.

People love their produce and where would vegans be with out their greens? Since farmers grown those greens deer get in the fields and eat it. This creates a man made food supply that creates over population of deer. So more deer get hit by cars and more people die.

People love their pets but domestic dogs and cats kill billions of wild birds and animals every year. These pets also create a man made food supply for coyotes. Because of this more kids are being attacked by coyotes. Also many species of small animals are being wiped out. I should add that cat dung that washes into the ocean has caused diseases that are killing seals and sea otters.

Now I could go on and on.

My point is what can we do to keep deer numbers I check? Cant very well turn packs of wolves loosed in urban areas, ditto for mountain lions and birth control just doesn’t work. We could hire government hunters to kill them. Or have hunters kill them, use the meat and use the money from hunting to help wildlife agencies.

As for the ducks, hunters have organized groups like Ducks Unlimited that spends millions on wetland habitat protection and clean up.

As for the varmints like coyotes, varmint hunters keep their numbers down.

Remember the Hurricane Katrina? Remember the dirt dikes that failed? Well they found burrowing rodents dug into these earth dams and dikes making them weak which caused their failure. So many people drowned and thousands of homes were destroyed because little furry animals weakened the earthen dams and dikes.

Nature works great with out man but add roads, cities, airports, farms, malls “civilization” then it goes out of whack. So we have two choices remove all of civilization or manage wildlife. And to manage wild life includes killing some and protecting others.

Say you like sheep and can’t stand the idea of them being killed. Well if sales of wool and mutton (sheep meat) were banned would farmers raise them? Nope. So now sheep become an endangered species because no one will raise them other than zoos and they can’t survive in the wild alone because the predators would wipe them out. So there went domesticated sheep because some wanted to “protect” them.

A similar thing goes for wild game, the funding from hunters help pay to keep healthy populations and the hunters following laws keep their numbers in check.

Wildlife management is complex you would have to go to college for a few years to understand it. So a person who has no education in this field is not qualified to make decisions that affect it. Yet we have millions of people who get all emotional over the furry cute animals and demand things that are actually harmful to animals. They wouldn’t dream of telling the astronauts how to fly the space shuttle but they vote for laws that can harm animals with out realizing it.

I think hunting is vital for animals and man. I enjoy hunting to feed my family with clean meat that has no chemicals of hormones. Man has hunted from the dawn of man. Its part of our heritage and if managed right it’s very beneficial to animals. What is your opinion on hunting?
Hunting is Nature's way. Everything in Nature hunts. Think about it. Wolves hunt, tigers hunt, lions hunt, bears hunt, your lovable tabby cat hunts, even lambs hunt for greener pastures.

Only Man hunts for sport. If he is wasting Nature's resources by killing indiscriminately then it is wrong. If he is utilizing the meat for food and just keeping the hide, antlers or head for trophy that's okay too. Many deer hunters back home only keep the head and donate the venison to the old folk's home or orphanage. That's commendable.

H
Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaa.* * '; Hunting is Fun, Pleasurable, Recreational, and Enjoyable; Killing is never Enjoyable to us True Hunters who Hunt, and Pursue Animals for Food, and Sport for ourselves, family, friends and fellow Hunters.';... No one really has to Kill any Animal when they are out Hunting for it to be Pleasurable, Enjoyable, Recreational, and Fun.* No True Hunter derives any Pleasure, or Satisfaction from the Killing alone of any of the Animals that he Hunts for, pursues, and harvests for food and Sport.*
What exactly do you mean by sport? Do you mean you want to hunt and keep or donate the meat? or do you mean you want to hunt just just to say you killed something?.......There is a big difference in these. I am an avid hunter along with my husband and I do not believe in caged in hunts or what we call trophy hunting (only getting the biggest thing you can find). I do believe in the thrill of sitting there and calling in your target and getting them to come to you and then when finished to either donate the meat to a charity to feed the hungry or eat it yourself. If that is the case then yes please hunt and enjoy your hunts in the outdoors for it is a wonderful gift that we are able to do this. The thrill of adrenaline is the most intoxicating thing you will ever feel.
People opposed to hunting are usually the kind of people that let emotion drive their decision making. Therfore any conclusion or opinion they have on the subject will be based of misinformation and emotionally driven conclusions with little to no logic in them.

I support hunting because it has done more for public lands than any politician of left wing extremist group ever has or ever will. Hunters are why the Turkey didn't go extinct. Population control is part of it but so is the money gotten from hunting to preserve our lands.
It's an evil necessity. Hunting controls the population of animals. Without hunting one animal, say deer, would overpopulate an area and starve out other animals. Granted, hunting just for killing an animal is wrong. But I agree with hunting, with controls, and for food.
I don't hunt ';sports'; I hunt game animals to fill my freezer so my family can have pure protein, instead of the chemical filled, antibiotic stuffed, growth hormone enhanced garbage they sell in stores.

shoot safe
As a natural man, I find it natural to take big game for food. I notice that it makes a good sport, while I am at it. Those who hunt purely for sport, I have hopes they will see how fulfilled they become by the whole thing, and that will emerge as more important than the trophy.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning, and the blood on my forehead when I gut a deer.
I love it.It is a good way to relax even if you do not kill anything. One of the coolest things I ever saw was to bucks fighting during the rut and I did not even kill anything that year.
Hunting is not only fun, but it also happens to be awesome. Plus there's nothing like eating something that you killed yourself. I approve.
as longe as you eat it and its not endangerd i dont care unless you are a blood thirsty animal, in that case you should go and die in a hole
Two words...Hunting Forum. What would you think, junior?
ask it on the vegan section and youll get the answer that youre probably looking for
Going for a biased answer, are we?

Think about it, it's like asking a Ferarri owners club what their favourite car is...
I hunt for food and population control ONLY.

I do not hunt for the sake of killing something.
I hate to break it to you..........but, THIS IS THE HUNTING SECTION...!!!!!!!!!!!D
It is better than drugs or hookers.
You eat what you shoot.
I have no problem with it.
If you kill it, eat it.
';Don't do to others what you won't want to be done to you'; - I follow this philosophy, thus even eat meat bought in a super marked is disgusted by me and kill just for the fun of it is even as worse than hunt for survival. It is sad, it is horrible, it causes a lot pain and fear to other being.
Well, there's two sides to it. I would NEVER hunt but it helps with animals not being overpopulated. So, I don't like it, but sometimes it helps the economy from being run over by herds and herds of deer.
