noIs it legal to hunt small birds without a hunting license in colorado(using a 22mm rifle)?
no. birds are federally protected. you can shoot starlings because they are non-native pests however.
22mm is a canon.
Here is a link to the Colorado small game hunting publication:

You cannot hunt without a license, and it's a .22 Caliber, not mm.
i hope you mean a .22 caliber not 22mm, as 22mm ammo would be beyond expensive and require a destructive device permit, not to mention there would be nothing left of whatever smaller animal you shoot at with it
you mean .22caliber. You can hunt pest that come on your property destroying livestock as well as Starlings and such. Practice before killing. Don't kill unless you need to for food or protect your property.D
You cannot hunt birds with a rifle. Its againt the federal migratory birds act. Also, songbirds are protected too.

Get a license and then go after squirrels. Practice on cans and targets until you can hit something, there no reason to make an animal suffer. Also, dont go on a rampage. A dead squirrel is still a waste if you dont use it for something.

Also, squirrel may have a season in colorado. When you get your hunting license and take your hunters safety course, you'll learn about this.
No. Most if not all animals have hunting restriction put on by the state. The only animal I can think of that wouldn't need a tag for is rabbit but you still need a general hunting license. Pidgeons are fair game as there a pest but you can't discharge a firearm in a populated area.

It's .22 cal. that mean hundreths of inches. But I guess your brand new to guns now. Either that or you know very little. Understandable.
You can shoot what are considered ';outlaw'; birds. Sparrows, blackbirds, grackles, pigeons, crows. All other birds either require a license or are federally protected. Squirrels are in season but require a license.
22MM for small game??? 22mm is an artillery piece, almost an inch in diameter much to large.

As to colorado law the only thing that can be hunted with out a license is coyotes and then only under special conditions and on private land. (animals may be shot to protect property like livestock but that is protection not hunting) You still need a small game license to hunt sparrows.
