Not manhatten because it is so expensive. I would go to queens or a safe side of brooklyn because it has great access to manhatten if that is where you work.I am apartment hunting in NYC where should a single mom with 2 kids live there?

Manhattan can be very expensive, however, and many of my friends have actually moved up to the Bronx as Brooklyn is becoming more trendy and popular (and therefore expensive). Just make sure that you are close to the subway if you work in Manhattan and you should be fine.
