What is the penelty for road hunting then eluding the police?

Depends on your state. In Texas, the police will notify the game warden. If you are caught, the game warden has the authority to confiscate your vehicle, gun, and anything else you used in the process of commiting your crime. In addition, you can be fined up to $10,000.00 per animal you shoot, and you will also have to pay a ';species replacement fee'; of up to $5000.00 per animal you shoot (fine depends on species of animal). The confiscated property is sold at auction and the money is donated to the parks and wildlife department.


On top of all that, you can be charged with ';evading police';, ';resisting arrest';, and ';discharging a firearm from roadway';. Any of those will land you time in jail and a large fine. When you pile on all 3 charges, you won't see daylight for quite some time.


I would think twice before road hunting, because I have an idea that other states have similiar penalties.What is the penelty for road hunting then eluding the police?

In Kansas, I know that you can loose your gun, and vehicle, and there is also a fine that goes along with it, but not sure how much it is.

It gives all hunters a bad name. I consider it to be just as low as poaching.

Depends on the state you are in. Florida is hard on poachers and running just makes it worse. Anywhere from 1yr of probation,lose of your hunting license and gun up to a year in jail.
